In May 2022, the Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary in Bundi district of Rajasthan was notified as the 52nd Tiger Reserve in the country.
Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary is the fourth tiger reserve in Rajasthan. The other three tiger reserves are Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Sawai Madhopur district, Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota district, and Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district.
The sanctuary has 500 types of wildlife including Indian wolf, leopard, striped woodpecker, cheetal, sambhar, sloth bear, golden jackal, chinkara, nilgai, fox, wild cats, langur, snake, crocodile.
According to “Status of Tigers in India” report released in 2019, there are 2,967 tigers in 20 states across the country.
