  1. The 17th edition of Joint Military Exercise SURYA KIRAN is being conducted in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. It is a joint military exercise between the Indian army and the Nepali army. The Indian army will be led by a battalion from the Kumaon Regiment.

  1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal to grant maternity, child care and child adoption leave to women soldiers, sailors and air warriors on par with their officer counterparts.


  1. India & the European Union (EU) carried out their maiden naval exercise in the Gulf of Guinea off the west African coast. During the exercise, INS Sumedha, an offshore patrol vessel, was joined by three EU member states’ ships.

  1. Sadhna Saxena Nair becomes second woman Air Marshal. She took charge as the Director General Hospital Services (Armed Forces), becoming the first woman officer to hold the prestigious post.


  1. Agniveer Gawate Akshay Laxman, a soldier under the Agnipath scheme, died in Siachen Glacier due to medical complications. He is the first casualty since the recruitment scheme began. Unlike regular soldiers, Laxman's family will not receive family pension or ex-servicemen benefits.


  1. Indian Navy has successfully recovered the ISRO Gaganyaan Crew Capsule from Bay of Bengal after the Successful test of In-flight Crew abort test under Gaganyaan Mission.


  1. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited has delivered the third stealth destroyer of Project 15B Class guided missile destroyer, 'Imphal', to the Indian Navy. This warship is the first to have accommodation for women officers & sailors. It is armed with supersonic 'Brahmos' and 'Barak-8' missiles, as well as anti-submarine weapons and sensors.


  1. Govt signed ₹313cr contract with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) for the mid-life upgrade and re-powering of Indian Navy’s frigate INS Beas. INS Beas is the first of Brahmaputra Class Frigate to be re-powered from steam to diesel propulsion.
