India and Japan have recently agreed to work together on developing the UNICORN mast, a special cone-shaped structure that improves the stealth abilities of naval warships. This partnership is part of the India-Japan Defence Technology Cooperation framework.
This agreement is an important milestone because it is the first time Japan is sharing its defense technology with India.
The move builds on a 2015 agreement between the two countries to share defense equipment and technology, aiming to strengthen their military ties.
In the past, India and Japan discussed buying military equipment, including amphibious planes for the Indian Navy. However, these talks did not move forward because of high costs and other priorities.
