NSG conducts counter-hijack mock drill on river cruise - Defence News

FREE Study Material for AFCAT CDS NDA Exam (Telegram) Counter-terrorist commandos from the National Security Guard (NSG) carried out a practice drill on Friday to handle a hostage situation on a river cruise in Assam.

The mock exercise took place at Pandu Port on the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati.

It involved the NSG working together with the state police, local administration, a local commando unit, the Inland Waterways Authority of India, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Assam Inland Water Transport, and the fire department.

The goal of the drill was to test how quickly the NSG could respond, improve their strategies, strengthen coordination with different state agencies, and ensure a smooth and effective plan to deal with threats on river transport.

The NSG, also known as the "black cat" commandos, was established in 1984 to handle counter-terrorism and hijacking situations.
