Russia fires Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) at Ukraine

Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Ukraine on Thursday, marking the first time such a weapon has been used in the ongoing war. The missile targeted the city of Dnipro in central-eastern Ukraine. This attack came just two days after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an updated nuclear doctrine.

The new policy lowers the threshold for Russia to use nuclear weapons and includes a warning to the U.S. and NATO against providing Ukraine with longer-range weapons capable of striking Russian territory.

Ukraine's air force reported that the ICBM, along with eight other missiles, was launched from the Astrakhan region in southern Russia, near the Caspian Sea.

The attack injured two people and caused damage to an industrial facility and a rehabilitation center for people with disabilities.
