Exercise MILAN 2026, the Indian Navy’s multilateral maritime exercise, concluded on Wednesday with a closing ceremony conducted onboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant off the coast of Visakhapatnam. Read: The Latest Defence Current Affairs Notes here
Organised under the theme ‘Camaraderie, Cooperation, Collaboration’, MILAN 2026 recorded large-scale participation.
The exercise involved 42 ships and submarines along with 29 aircraft, including 18 ships from Friendly Foreign Countries.
Maritime patrol aircraft from France, Germany, and the United States also took part, in addition to integral helicopters deployed on foreign naval vessels.
The exercise began with the Harbour Phase, which included bilateral interactions, a Subject Matter Expert Exchange programme, and the International Maritime Seminar.
This was followed by the Sea Phase, featuring high-intensity operational drills conducted across advanced warfare disciplines.
