India secured the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 title

India won the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 by defeating China 1-0 in a tough final on Wednesday. Deepika scored the winning goal with a back-handed shot in the third quarter, and the Indian team held on to their lead to secure their second consecutive title.

This is India’s third win in the tournament's history, making them the joint-most successful team alongside South Korea.

India first won the trophy in 2016 in Singapore, followed by a second victory in Ranchi in 2023, and now their third in Rajgir.

India has also earned silver medals in 2013 and 2018 and a bronze in 2010.

In the final, both teams played aggressively in the first half, but India increased the pressure in the second half, with Deepika’s goal in the 31st minute proving to be decisive.

Hockey India announced a reward of ₹3 lakh for each player and ₹1.5 lakh for support staff to celebrate the victory.

For the first time, the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) also announced cash prizes for the top three teams. India will receive USD 10,000, while China and Japan will get USD 7,000 and USD 5,000 respectively.
