The bilateral naval exercise SLINEX 2024 between India and Sri Lanka is set to take place from 17 to 20 December 2024 in Visakhapatnam. In this edition, the Indian Navy will field INS Sumitra, a Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel, along with a Special Forces team.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Navy will participate with SLNS Sayura, also an Offshore Patrol Vessel, accompanied by its Special Forces team.
The exercise will unfold in two phases:
1. Harbour Phase – Focuses on planning, professional interactions, and joint training.
2. Sea Phase – Involves advanced maritime operations and tactical exercises.
SLINEX aligns with India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and the Prime Minister's vision of ‘Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR)’.

1. Exercise MITRA SHAKTI – A bilateral military exercise.
2. Dosti Trilateral Exercise – A coast guard exercise involving India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
