The painting vividly depicts the historic surrender of Pakistani forces to the Indian Army on December 16, 1971, in Dhaka.
This event marked the signing of the Instrument of Surrender, which brought an end to the 13-day India-Pakistan War of 1971.
Previously displayed at the Army Headquarters in New Delhi, the painting now serves as a tribute at the Manekshaw Centre.
December 16 is celebrated nationwide as Vijay Diwas to commemorate India's decisive victory over Pakistan.
The war claimed the lives of approximately 3,900 Indian soldiers, with 9,851 others injured. This day honours their sacrifices and India’s triumph in liberating Bangladesh.
