The 12th edition of the bilateral maritime exercise SLINEX-25 between India and Sri Lanka commenced in Sri Lanka on August 14. The Indian Navy is represented by INS Rana, a guided-missile destroyer, and INS Jyoti, a fleet tanker. Read: The Latest Defence Current Affairs Notes here

The exercise is divided into two phases: the Harbour Phase at Colombo from August 14–16, followed by the Sea Phase from August 17–18.
The last edition of SLINEX was hosted at Visakhapatnam, India, from December 17–20, 2024.
During the sea phase, both navies will engage in advanced drills including gunnery exercises, communication procedures, navigation, seamanship manoeuvres, visit board search and seizure (VBSS), and replenishment at sea.
