The Ramon Magsaysay Award was established in 1957 and is considered Asia’s highest recognition.
It acknowledges individuals who have shown remarkable dedication to serving the people of Asia.
The award is presented annually on August 31, marking the birth anniversary of Ramon Magsaysay, the third president of the Republic of the Philippines, in whose memory the award was created.
Recipients are awarded a certificate, a medallion bearing the image of Ramon Magsaysay, and a cash prize.
The award is internationally regarded as Asia’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize.
