Navy Decommissions INS Sindhughosh After 40 Years Of Glorious Service - Latest Defence Current Affairs 2025

INS Sindhughosh, the lead submarine of the Sindhughosh-class serving in the Indian Navy, was formally decommissioned at sunset on Friday, marking the end of four decades of distinguished service to the nation. Read: The Latest Defence Current Affairs Notes here


The decommissioning ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.


The submarine was paid off under the command of Lieutenant Commander Rajat Sharma.


Sindhughosh was originally commissioned on 30 April 1986 under the command of the late Commander K.C. Varghese.


Captain K.R. Ajrekar (Retired), the second Commanding Officer of the submarine, attended the ceremony as the Guest of Honour.
