DRDO Successfully Tests Indigenous Pralay Quasi-Ballistic Missile - Expected Defence Current Affairs 2026

Watch | DRDO flight-tested indigenous quasi-ballistic missile Pralay with 500 km range on 5 November 2026 at 1110 hrs from Kalam Island, Odisha during user evaluation trials. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh confirmed imminent induction.

Developed by Research Centre Imarat Hyderabad with other DRDO labs, Pralay is a two-stage solid-fuelled surface-to-surface missile. It flies a low quasi-ballistic trajectory with mid-flight manoeuvrability to evade enemy air defence interceptors.

Payload capacity is 350 to 1000 kg with conventional warheads including runway denial and penetration-cum-blast. Range instruments at Integrated Test Range Chandipur validated objectives. Bharat Dynamics Ltd manufactures the system, 120 units cleared for the Indian Air Force.
