PERSONAL INTERVIEW IN SSB
WHAT IS A PERSONAL INTERVIEW IN SSB ?
Personal Interview in SSB is an effective evaluation and in-depth study of a candidate which is not possible in the examination.
Written exam tests the knowledge of facts, intellectual ability and attainment but the interview process for into the personality of the candidate.
Interview is a face to face interpersonal role in which the interviewer asks the candidate selected set of questions in order to assess his/her suitability or to know the ability of the candidate if he/she is suitable for the forces.
In SSB, personal interview is regarded as the most effective tool for collection of data to arrive at the reasonable assessment of a candidate's personality.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PIQ IN PERSONAL INTERVIEW ?
Personal Information Questionnaire contains the entire developmental history of an individual. It is a complete reflection of your achievements, socio economic background, percentage, schooling, hobbies and interests, achievement in various fields etc.
Remember, what you are today is due to your environment. You have complete control over the environmental factors ; and therefore, you must be truthful in supplying the information.
Do not exaggerate your achievements especially in the field of co and extra curricular activities. Nor it is advisable to hide any point which you feel, reflects you in poor light.
A truthful PIQ is only a help to build a realistic image of the candidate.
REQUIREMENT OF SSB
Candidate being interviewed at SSB is not supposed to be very intelligent and an all rounder. In fact, what he is expected to possess is an average intelligence with other objective, subject knowledge, general knowledge, self confidence and mental alertness fully balanced.
The SSB is looking for the candidate who could be brought a balanced and intelligent gentleman by providing training.
HOW AND WHEN PERSONAL INTERVIEW IS CONDUCTED ?
Normally the interview starts immediately after the psychological test on the second day. An interview lasts for 45 minutes to an hour. However, in some cases it may be shorter or longer.
You will be informed well in advance about the interview and the place where it will be held. In case, your interview is on Day 3 or Day 4 immediately after the GTO ( Group Testing Officer ) testing, you may be asked to come in sports dress itself, but in case you have time, you can change to formal dress for interview.
