  1. The Karnataka government has allowed students to wear hijab, a head scarf wrapped around the head by some Muslim women, during competitive exams.


  1. IMD reports the formation of Cyclone ‘Tej’ in the Arabian Sea, alongside the development of Cyclone ‘Hamoon’ in the Bay of Bengal. The name "Tej" has been given by India while "Hamoon" has been named by Iran.

  1. India began producing 'reference' petrol and diesel, joining a select league of nations that produce the highly specialized fuel which is used for testing automobiles. Reference grade fuel comes with a 97 octane number. IOC's Paradip refinery in Odisha will produce 'reference' grade petrol and its Panipat unit in Haryana will produce such quality diesel.
