The Indian Navy has officially retired the Searcher MK II Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) at INS Garuda, Kochi, marking the end of an era. Inducted in 2002, the Searcher MK II played a pivotal role in safeguarding India’s maritime borders. It provided real-time intelligence and boosted the Navy’s operational readiness through persistent aerial surveillance.
Renowned for its endurance, versatility, and high-altitude performance, the UAV contributed significantly to a variety of missions.
These included maritime surveillance, anti-piracy patrols, and disaster response efforts.
Its role in monitoring sea lanes, countering non-state threats, and ensuring the security of naval assets was instrumental in supporting the Navy’s objectives.
