This is a biennial multilateral military exercise and is considered one of the largest and longest-running tri-service drills in the Middle East–North Africa (MENA) region.
Originally launched in 1980 as a bilateral initiative between Egypt and the United States, the exercise has grown into a major multilateral event over the years.
Alongside India, the exercise includes participation from several friendly nations across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
