Upendra Dwivedi is the current Chief of Army Staff (since June 2024). He succeeded General Manoj Pande.
He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy.
He was commissioned into the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles Regiment, a key infantry unit of the Indian Army.

Before becoming COAS, he served as Vice Chief of Army Staff and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command.
