- Nakki Lake, situated in the Aravalli ranges in Mount Abu. Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed on 12 February 1948 and Gandhi Ghat was constructed nearby.
- Lonar Lake which was created by a meteoric impact, is a saline soda lake formed in the basalt rock. It is located in Maharashtra.
- Nal Sarovar Lake, located in Gujarat, is the home of Largest bird sanctuary of India.
- Pulicat Lake is located in Andhra Pradesh and is the second largest brackish water lake or lagoon in India. Sriharikota island parts this lake from the Bay of Bengal.
- Roopkund Lake also known as Mystery Lake is located in Uttarakhand. Because of the human remains found, the lake is also called Skeleton Lake.
- Sambhar Lake located in Rajasthan is India’s largest inland salt lake which is in bowl shape. It is the source of most of Rajasthan’s salt production.
- Vembanad Kayal is located in Kerala. It is the longest lake in India and the largest lake of Kerala.
