The Indian Army has installed a statue of legendary Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji on the banks of Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh, near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. Read: The Latest Defence Current Affairs Notes here
Situated at an altitude of 14,300 feet, the statue was unveiled on Thursday by Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Corps (Fire and Fury Corps). Instagram
This event follows the recent disengagement of troops between India and China at the last two friction points, Demchok and Depsang, after a mutual understanding reached on October 21.
The completion of this process marked the end of a four-and-a-half-year border standoff, which began with the violent clash in the Pangong Lake area on May 5, 2020.
