The 14th edition of the Indian-Russia bilateral naval exercise INDRA is scheduled from 28 March to 2 April 2025 off the coast of Chennai. Read: The Latest Defence Current Affairs Notes here
The first edition of the Indra exercise was held on the western coast of India in the Arabian Sea in May 2003.
The exercise is conducted in two distinct phases – the Harbour Phase and the Sea Phase.
The Harbour Phase occurs from 28 to 30 March 2025 in Chennai.
The Sea Phase takes place from 31 March to 2 April 2025 in the Bay of Bengal. This phase focuses on advanced naval drills.
Indian assets include ships INS Rana and INS Kuthar, along with the P-8I maritime patrol aircraft.
The INS Rana is a 61-ME class destroyer that was built by the Soviet Union for India.
