  1. Some nouns are singular in form, but they are used as plural nouns and always take a plural verb. (Cattle, vermin, clergy, police, peasantry, artillery etc)

  1. Some nouns are always used in a plural form and always take a plural verb. (Trousers, scissors, spectacles, measles, premises, annals etc)

  1. When some nouns that indicate length, money, weight or number, are preceded by a numeral, they remain unchanged in form. (Foot, pair, dozen, year, thousands etc)

  1. Collective nouns are used both as singular and plural depending on the meaning. (Jury, team, government, company etc)
Examples:

  1. Some nouns have one meaning in the singular and another in the plural. (Air=atmosphere, airs=proud, good=wise, goods=property, force=strength, forces=army etc)

  1. Family members is wrong, members of the family is correct.
Examples:

  1. English teacher is wrong, the teacher of English is correct.
Examples:

  1. Cousin-brother or sister is wrong, only cousin is correct.
Examples:
Sanjeev is my cousin.✔️

  1. ‘Cause’ produces a result, while ’reason’ explains or justifies a cause.
Examples:
The police could not figure out what would cause the friendly woman to kill her daughter.❌
