The tradition of conferring the honorary General title on the Army Chiefs of Nepal and India has been observed since 1950.
Last month, Nepal's President Ramchandra Paudel bestowed the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army on Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi at a special ceremony held at Sheetal Niwas, the official residence of the President in Kathmandu.
