The IADWS is a fully indigenously developed multi-layered air defence system designed to strengthen India’s aerial security shield against modern threats. What makes this system significant is its combination of cutting-edge technologies, including:
Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles (QRSAMs) for intercepting high-speed aerial targets.
Advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles to neutralize low-flying threats.
A laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW), representing India’s push towards futuristic defence warfare.
Just days earlier, on August 20, 2025, the Ministry of Defence confirmed another milestone when India test-fired its Agni-5 Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, Odisha.
With a strike range of 5,000 km, the Agni-5 further underlines India’s advancing missile programme and deterrence capability.
