Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated Sagar Bhavan and Polar Bhavan at the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) in Goa, marking India’s first integrated infrastructure for polar and ocean research. India has two permanent Antarctic stations — Maitri (1989) and Bharati (2011).


  1. The Ministry of Earth Sciences has launched the Bharat Forecasting System (BFS). Developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, to deliver highly localized weather forecasts with a 6 km resolution - the most advanced globally.
