The rifle is chambered for 7.62×51 mm ammunition, weighs less than 4 kg, and has an effective range of 500 metres. Its name, Ugram, is derived from Sanskrit and means "ferocious."
Development and Manufacturing
According to verified sources, the rifle was designed and manufactured in 100 days. Dvipa Defence received its manufacturing licence in 2021 and established its production facility near Hyderabad, Telangana.
Likely Users of the Ugram Rifle
Following successful trials, the rifle is expected to be procured by Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including the CRPF, ITBP, SSB, and NSG, subject to procurement decisions.
