The encounter happened in the morning in a forest near Bhejji police station during an anti-Naxalite operation. Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P. said the operation was launched after receiving information about Maoists from the Konta and Kistaram area committees hiding in the forested hills around Korajguda, Dantespuram, Nagaram, and Bhandarpadar villages.
So far, the bodies of 10 Naxalites have been recovered from the site. Security forces also seized weapons, including an INSAS rifle, an AK-47, and a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR).
The search operation, involving the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), is still ongoing in the area.
